Autumn Yun-Ting Tsai (she/her) is a playwright and librettist originally from Taiwan. She creates music-theatre that reimagines the medieval past through a contemporary lens.

Her work has been presented at Sprengel Museum Hannover, Sankt Peter Köln, Monopol Berlin, and the Kuandu Arts Festival in Taiwan. Her presentations include TRAIECT III at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, and Shandong University, Qindao. She is a selected participant in the 2026 Women Opera Makers Workshop, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.

Her play Gone with the Rainy Season interweaves English, Italian, Taiwanese, and Mandarin dialogues with the prose of twentieth-century Taiwanese female travel writer San Mao. Her libretto The space in between explores Taiwanese Beiguan gongche notation and diverse narratives of Zhaojun Departing for the Frontier, drawing on the silent bride’s diplomatic marriage in historical records and literary traditions.

Her artistic research Mirror of Words, first presented as a solo performance at Goldsmiths, reconstructs epistolary narratives of memory, grief, and consolation through personal book collections ranging from Virgil and Dante to an English-Latin bilingual edition of Alice in Wonderland, incorporating choreographical methods with field recordings and Mandarin-English narratives.

Her current projects, including “Pater Noster in Schreyahn,” “Confessions,” and “Old Letters,” combine visual poetry with video and sound art, bridging Boethian musical-world harmony with questions of spirituality. She has ongoing collaborations with composers Rachel C. Walker and Philipp Henkel.

She majored in English Language and Literature at Fu Jen Catholic University and holds an MA in Performance Making from Goldsmiths, University of London.
